The neighborly thing to do,
or just bat shit stupid?

I
looked out the window this morning to see what my dog was barking at.
There was a neighbor walking what looked like a rat-poodle mix on a
leash. While I didn’t witness the deed, I did see him tying a knot in a
small plastic bag. Great! He cleaned up after his dog. It’s just the
neighborly thing to do, right? I guess it depends on what happens next. While I applaud his sense of civic duty, I have to wonder what he will do with that little plastic bag. I’d bet a dollar it will go in the trash to end up in our expensive, overworked landfill system. That is just bat shit stupid. To take a natural, biodegradable substance and wall it up in a waterproof tomb for who knows how long? If left alone it would help feed the lawn and, for all intents and purposes, be gone in a few days. But maybe I’m wrong. Maybe he has his head on right and will put it on his lawn. Or add it to a compost heap. Or maybe toss it in a flower bed. Yeah, right. He KNOTTED the bag. |
